About the Cray T3E
This is a machine configured for parallel processing, with 128
Compaq Alpha processors at 600 Mflop/s each, which are interconnected
via a fast communications network (3D-torus). Each processor has
its own local memory, but the machine can be used as a 'virtual
shared memory' system. Usually PVM and MPI will be used for explicit
communication between processors. 20% of the machine's capacity
is available for national use.
About HPaC
HPaC (Center for High Performance Applied Computing) is an organization
that stimulates and coordinates the High Performance Computing (HPC)
activities at the Delft University of Technology (DUT). HPaC is
an initiative of researchers at DUT in collaboration with partners
from other research laboratories. The HPaC facilities receive financial
support from the National Computing Facilities (NCF) which is part
of the Netherlands foundations for Scientific Research (NWO)
